Abhaya Blood Centre is a licensed blood centre in Chintalkunta, L.B. Nagar. We collect, screen, separate and store whole blood and its components — and we keep them ready for the hospitals and families around us.

Lic. No. 144/RR/TS/2022/BC/G 8 components available Chintalkunta, L.B. Nagar

We handle all blood groups and the following components: whole human blood, packed red cells, fresh frozen plasma, platelet rich plasma, platelet concentrate, leucoreduced red blood cells, platelet apheresis and cryoprecipitate.

Why it matters

There is still no way to
manufacture blood.

Every unit that reaches an operating theatre, a dialysis ward or a child with thalassaemia came out of somebody's arm first. That is the whole supply chain — people, and the centres that keep what they give safe.

3

Patients a single whole-blood donation can reach, once it is separated into red cells, plasma and platelets.

35days

How long packed red cells stay usable in controlled cold storage — then the shelf empties again.

5days

The window for platelets. Which is why platelet donors are needed almost every week of the year.

90days

The usual gap between whole-blood donations for a healthy adult in India. Four times a year, comfortably.

Under an hour, start to finish

Registration and screening take the longest. The donation itself is roughly 8–10 minutes, followed by ten minutes of rest and something to eat.

Sterile, single-use, licensed

Every donation uses a fresh disposable kit, and every unit is screened before it is issued. We operate under drug-licence No. 144/RR/TS/2022/BC/G.

You get a health snapshot

Haemoglobin, blood pressure, weight and blood group are checked before you donate — and shared with you afterwards.

How it works

Questions donors actually ask

Before you come in.

There is a pinch when the needle goes in, similar to a blood test, and then very little. Most of the eight to ten minutes is spent lying back and opening and closing your fist. If you tend to feel light-headed around needles, tell us — we will keep you flat and take it slowly.
Any photo ID — Aadhaar, driving licence, voter card or employee ID. Eat a normal meal within about three hours of donating, drink plenty of water, and avoid alcohol the night before. Please do not come fasting.
You give roughly 350–450 ml, a small fraction of your total blood volume. The fluid part is replaced within a day, and the red cells over the following weeks. Rest for ten minutes with us, drink extra fluids for the rest of the day, and skip heavy lifting or a gym session that evening.
Often, yes. Well-controlled blood pressure and diabetes managed with tablets do not automatically rule you out, while some medicines and recent illnesses do. Bring your prescription or a list of what you take, and our medical officer will decide during screening — that assessment is what the screening step is for.
Whole blood, once every three months — four times a year for a healthy adult. Platelet apheresis works on a shorter cycle because platelets recover quickly; ask our medical officer what is right for you.
Call or WhatsApp 99896 15498 — our second line is 88743 56789 — and tell us the patient's blood group, the component and number of units the hospital has asked for, and which hospital they are in. Carry the hospital's requisition form. If you can bring donors along, please do — it keeps the shelf full for the next family.
